Mohammedan want nine players back from national team camp

Staff Correspondent

Mohammedan SC have sought the release of nine of their players from the National team’s camp on Monday.

The club sent a letter to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) – a day after the schedule for the upcoming season of the BFL and Federation Cup were released.

The nine Mohammedan players in the national team camp are – Anisur Rahman Zico, Sohel Rana Jr, Rahmat Mia, Shakil Ahad Topu, Saad Uddin, Shahriar Emon, Faisal Ahmed Fahim, Sujan Hossain, and Sourav Dewan.

Under head coach Thomas Dooley, the national team is preparing for the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, set to take place from September 24 to October 5.

But with the BFL set to begin on September 18, Mohammedan, who are yet to begin the pre-season camp, want their players back.

Mohammedan has also sought a rescheduling of their first two matches of the season.

As per the current schedule, Mohammedan will begin their season on September 25 with the BFL match against Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club. Their Federation Cup campaign will begin on September 29 against Arambagh Krira Shangha.

However, the national team is set to be in Indonesia for the ASEAN Cup during that time, meaning if the schedule remains unchanged, Mohammedan is likely to miss several of their first-team players in both matches.

Dooley is yet to announce the final squad for the tournament.
