Seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am on Tuesday, raising Bangladesh’s combined toll of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 766, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest deaths, one was classified as a confirmed measles fatality, while the remaining six were categorised as suspected cases by the DGHS.
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 671, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths stand at 95.
During the same 24-hour period, 868 new suspected measles cases were reported, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 113,244.
Meanwhile, 122 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed measles infections to 13,735.
Since 15 March, a total of 96,027 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 92,383 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
