Eight children died from suspected measles in the 24 hours until 8am on Thursday, bringing Bangladesh's combined death toll from confirmed and suspected measles infections to 779.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), all eight fatalities were classified as suspected measles deaths.
With the latest figures, the number of suspected measles-related deaths has risen to 684, while the number of laboratory-confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 95.
During the reporting period, 974 new suspected measles cases were recorded, taking the nationwide total to 115,138.
The DGHS also confirmed 197 new laboratory-confirmed cases, raising the cumulative number of confirmed infections to 14,104.
Since 15 March, a total of 97,819 people with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 94,275 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
