Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Monday, raising the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths nationwide to 825.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), all five of the latest fatalities were classified as suspected measles deaths.

With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 730, while the number of laboratory-confirmed deaths remains at 95.

The DGHS also reported 992 new suspected measles cases during the reporting period, taking the cumulative total of suspected cases across the country to 124,745.

Meanwhile, 113 new laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 15,555.

Since 15 March, a total of 107,654 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 103,467 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
