Health officials on Sunday reported 672 new dengue cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the disease’s death toll in Bangladesh this year to 61.

According to a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest cases were reported from across the country.

Of the 672 patients, 84 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 88 in Chattogram division, 66 in Dhaka division, 91 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 110 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.

Another 140 patients were hospitalised in Khulna division, 27 in Mymensingh, 57 in Rajshahi, five in Rangpur and four in Sylhet.

With the latest figures, a total of 19,345 people have been infected with dengue and 61 have died in Bangladesh so far this year.

Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and infected 102,861 people across the country.

In 2024, the disease caused 575 deaths and infected 101,214 people.
