Six more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am on Sunday, taking the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 873 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
All six latest deaths were classified as suspected measles deaths, the DGHS said.
With the latest fatalities, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 775, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remain at 98.
The country also recorded 988 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases to 136,320.
Meanwhile, 75 new laboratory-confirmed cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed measles infections to 17,115.
Since March 15 this year, 118,382 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to DGHS data. Of them, 114,142 have recovered.
