Six die of dengue, 1,608 hospitalised overnight

Health officials today said they recorded 1,608 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least six persons in the last 24 hours.

“Out of 1,608, 215 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 319 in Chattogram division, 131 in Dhaka division, 223 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 171 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 276 in Khulna division, 79 in Mymensingh division, 132 in Rajshahi division and 62 in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 256 deaths while the disease inflicted 84,369.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
