Three more suspected measles deaths reported, total reaches 1,128

Three children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am Monday, taking Bangladesh’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,128 this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all three latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths, with no confirmed measles deaths reported during the period.

The number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 1,026, while confirmed deaths remain at 102.

A total of 1,296 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, raising the nationwide tally to 197,722.

Another 60 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, taking the total number of confirmed infections to 21,808.

Since March 15, a total of 175,336 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, according to the DGHS. Of them, 168,142 have recovered.
