India has formally protested the display of a map depicting Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan during a foreign affairs seminar in Dhaka, with an Indian diplomat immediately objecting to the presentation at the event.

According to a report by the Times of India, the map was shown during a keynote presentation by former Bangladeshi ambassador Tariq A Karim at a seminar organised by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on Monday. 

The report said that Pooja Kumari Jha, Second Secretary (Political and Information) at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, lodged an on-the-spot objection, stating that the map was factually incorrect and reiterating New Delhi's long-standing position that Jammu and Kashmir is an "integral and inalienable part of India." 

The incident occurred during a seminar on foreign affairs held in Dhaka on Monday and drew immediate diplomatic attention from the Indian mission, reflecting New Delhi's sensitivity over any international representation of the disputed territory that contradicts its official position. 

The Times of India reported that the map formed part of the presentation delivered by former ambassador Tariq A Karim. There was no immediate public response from the organisers regarding the objection.
