Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is taking strict action whenever there is any negligence in government work.
“Whether someone belongs to the bureaucracy or is a political person, the Prime Minister is taking strong action if anyone fails to properly perform their responsibilities,” he said a discussion titled “Bangladesh of Tomorrow” and the unveiling of the book “Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Five-Month Development Journey”, edited by Rotarian M Nazmul Hasan, at the CRAB auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the morning.
Describing the government’s activities over the past five months, Rizvi, also BNP Senior Joint Secretary General, said various discussions are taking place about the elected government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
“But this book presents various events and activities of what the government has done during these five months along with statistics. The nation knows and has witnessed these developments. However, when all the information is compiled and presented in a well-organised manner, it becomes an important document,” he said.
Rizvi highlighted various government initiatives including the Family Card, Farmers Card and canal excavation programmes as well as the planned introduction of a Health Card.
He said the book also provides a brief account of the steps taken by the Prime Minister to address the country’s gas crisis.
“Before the election, the Prime Minister made a number of commitments. After assuming office, he has been travelling across Bangladesh through the fields, markets, ports and different areas to implement those commitments. He is working day and night and personally monitoring whether his pledges are being implemented,” Rizvi said.
He said Tarique Rahman is showing no negligence in this regard.
He said the Prime Minister is encouraging those who are performing their duties and motivating them to work for the welfare of people.
Referring to what he described as propaganda against the government, Rizvi said the book would help counter the “collective efforts” of those trying to tarnish the government’s image and obstruct its work.
“If a book is written with facts, figures and statistics about the Prime Minister’s activities and his dedication to people, it will remain an important document in the hands of everyone,” he said.
He said people would then understand that those spreading propaganda, confusion and false narratives against the government are actually attempting to obstruct its good initiatives.
The discussion was chaired by Rotarian Nazmul Hasan, adviser to the organisation, and moderated by its president Saidur Rahman.
Among others, BNP lawmaker Advocate Arifa Sultana Ruma, BNP Executive Committee member Mahbubur Rahman and Chhatra Dal Vice-President Touhid Awal attended the event.
