Bangladesh Under-20 women’s team thrashed Pakistan 5-1 in the Challenger Pool at the Junior Hockey Asia Cup in China on Sunday.

Five different players – Lomina Nupur, Nadira Emma, Sharika Rimon, Kona Akter, and Irin Akter Riya – found the back of the net for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh started aggressively against Pakistan and took the lead in the ninth minute through Lomina. Nadira doubled the advantage in the 19th minute, before Sharika converted a penalty stroke in the 33rd minute to make it 3-0.

Pakistan's Sharika pulled one back early in the second half, scoring in the 41st minute, but Bangladesh gave their opponents no route back into the contest.

Kona restored the three-goal cushion in the 43rd minute, making it 4-1. Late in the match, Irin struck from a penalty corner in the 57th minute to complete a comprehensive 5-1 victory.

Bangladesh had already opened their campaign with a 7-0 win over Chinese Taipei.

With two wins from two matches, Bangladesh sit top of the Challenger Pool with a maximum six points.

They will face Kazakhstan in their third match on Tuesday.
