Bangladesh's women's hockey team were crowned unbeaten champions of the Challenger Group at the Junior Asia Cup after thrashing Hong Kong China 6-0 in their final pool match in Moqi, Inner Mongolia, on Tuesday.

The result secured a fourth consecutive win of the tournament for the Red and Greens, following earlier victories over Chinese Taipei, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, extending their perfect run through the group stage without dropping a single point along the way.

Bangladesh dominated from the outset at Moring Dawa Stadium, pinning back Hong Kong's defence with wave after wave of attacks before finally breaking through in the ninth minute, when captain Sharika Rimon converted a penalty corner to open the scoring.

Irene Akter Ria doubled the advantage with a fine field goal in the 19th minute, before Kona Akter added a third just before the half hour mark, sending Bangladesh into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead already established.

The second half brought no let up in intensity. Mossammat Lima struck in the 31st minute to make it four, and Ria added her second of the match, and Bangladesh's fifth overall, just two minutes later to further extend the gap.

Lima completed her own brace in the 48th minute, rounding off the scoring at 6-0 and sealing a result that marked a new high point in the history of Bangladeshi women's hockey on foreign soil.

Qualification for the knockout stage was already secured the day before, following Monday's win over Kazakhstan, with the top three sides from the Challenger Pool joining all five Elite Pool teams, India, hosts China, South Korea, Japan and Malaysia, in the quarter finals.
