The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has asked all Bangladeshi visitors to refrain from travelling to areas affected by the ongoing heavy rainfall, floods and landslides in Nepal, until weather and travel conditions improve. 

In a travel advisory issued on Monday, it said the tourist places in Pisang, Chame, Manang and surrounding areas require extra caution, noting that continuous rainfall has triggered landslides, snowfall and road blockages making rescue efforts very difficult due to terrain and connectivity disruption. 

“It may be noted that authorities have already suspended high-altitude trekking in several parts of Manang, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La and Bhimthang,” the advisory note said.

It said Pokhara and surrounding areas also require caution with rising water levels in the Seti River and landslides disrupting roads and access to nearby trekking destinations. 

“Bangladeshi citizens are therefore advised to check all the details and closely follow instructions issued by the Government of Nepal and local authorities before scheduling trekking, mountaineering and journeys to mountainous and landslide-prone areas, including the Annapurna, Manang, Mustang and Manaslu regions.”

It urged those already travelling in affected areas to remain in safe locations, avoid riverbanks and unstable slopes, check road and weather conditions before travelling, “ and maintain regular communication with their travel operators and the Embassy.”

The Embassy will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates as necessary, it said.
