Babita birthday special to feature 12 showbiz stars

Legendary Bangladeshi actress Babita will be honoured with a special television programme on her birthday on July 30, as Maasranga Television celebrates both the actress's birthday and the channel's 15th anniversary.

Titled Bobita Samagra, the programme will explore the celebrated actress's long acting career, personal memories, achievements and lesser-known stories through a different presentation style. It will also feature 12 prominent personalities from Bangladesh's film, music and cultural sectors.

This year's programme coincides with two milestones. July 30 marks Bobita's birthday as well as the 15th founding anniversary of Maasranga Television.

The programme has been written, planned and hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan, who said it is not a conventional interview-based show.

Instead, he said, the programme will present Bobita's life, career, memories and contribution to Bangladeshi cinema from multiple perspectives.

According to Rumman, Bobita Samagra will become a valuable record for admirers of the veteran actress.

The programme will feature celebrated singer Runa Laila, singer Sabina Yasmin, veteran actors Alamgir, Masud Parvez Sohel Rana and Afzal Hossain, actresses Anwara and Jaya Ahsan, Bobita's sisters Kohinoor Akter Suchanda and Gulshan Ara Champa, and actor Shakib Khan.

Speaking about the special programme, Bobita said, "For those who love me, 'Bobita Samagra' is truly going to be something special. I am overwhelmed that Maasranga Television has organised such a programme centred on me. I hope audiences will enjoy it."

Bobita Samagra will air on Maasranga Television on Thursday, July 30, at 10:30 pm. The programme has been produced by the channel's executive producer Ajay Poddar.
