PM thanks Anwar Ibrahim for hospitality in Malaysia
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday thanked Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Dr Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail, for their “incredibly warm welcome and hospitality” during his recently concluded visit to Malaysia.
In a Facebook post shared by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tarique said, “We are deeply touched by the friendship, generosity, and goodwill extended by the Government of Malaysia and its friendly people.
“My discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the enduring bonds between Bangladesh and Malaysia, underscoring our shared commitment to greater cooperation, prosperity, and regional progress.”
Tarique also recalled the “cherished relationship” between Bangladesh and Malaysia, which dates back several decades to the era of late President Ziaur Rahman and Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The Prime Minister further conveyed his appreciation to His Majesty the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar, for the time he devoted and the warmth he extended during their meeting.
“Bangladesh greatly values its bilateral and multilateral ties with Malaysia. We are proud of the people-to-people connectivity that binds our two nations across various sectors and all walks of life,” the Prime Minister said.
Tarique concluded his Malaysia visit – his first state visit as Prime Minister – on Monday. During the visit, the two countries discussed several areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
