Rain likely to intensify across Bangladesh over next 5 days, temperatures to dip

Rainfall is expected to increase across Bangladesh over the next five days, with the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasting widespread showers and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in most parts of the country.

In its five-day forecast issued on Tuesday morning, the Met Office said daytime and nighttime temperatures may fall slightly across the country on Tuesday.

Many places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds and lightning. Isolated areas in Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are also expected to receive rainfall.

The BMD warned that some parts of the country could experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.

The rainy conditions are expected to persist on Wednesday, with widespread rain forecast for Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, while scattered showers are likely in Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

Similar weather is forecast for Thursday, when many areas in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, along with some parts of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, may receive rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds and lightning.

The Met Office said moderate rainfall is likely at places across the country on Thursday, while temperatures may rise slightly.

On Friday, weather conditions are expected to remain largely unchanged, with rain or thundershowers forecast for many places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and isolated areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Day and night temperatures are likely to remain stable.

The forecast for Saturday also indicates widespread rainfall, with many places in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and some areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions expected to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers.

The BMD said isolated parts of the country could see moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
