ACC raids former land minister Saifuzzaman's flats in Gulshan

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday raided two flats owned by former Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed in Gulshan, Dhaka.

ACC Deputy Director Md Mashiur Rahman confirmed the operation to Daily Waadaa.

According to ACC sources, acting on a court order, a joint team entered the two apartments at around 10:30am and began preparing an inventory of the assets inside. The inventory is being carried out under the supervision of an executive magistrate, with approval from the court. The two flats are valued at around 18 crore taka.

The inventory is being conducted at two adjacent apartments—Flat A-7 (3,747 sq ft) and Flat B-7 (3,832 sq ft)—located at Plot 11, Road 66, Block Northwest (B), Gulshan, Dhaka.

The operation involves members of the ACC's investigation team, Asset Management Unit, and Gulshan Police Station.

"We found both flats locked when we arrived. Even the building manager said he did not have the keys. The locks were later opened," Mashiur told Waadaa.

"Most of the belongings had already been removed. Only some furniture and a few clothes remain. We are now documenting the assets that are still there."

The ACC launched an inquiry into Saifuzzaman after the political changeover following the July Uprising. Since then, the anti-graft agency has filed multiple cases against him over allegations of corruption and irregularities.
