PM to open July Mass Uprising Museum on August 5
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will officially inaugurate the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum on August 5, opening the historic site to the public, a senior minister confirmed on Sunday.
The highly anticipated inauguration will take place on the second anniversary of the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s regime, effectively putting to rest ongoing speculations regarding the museum's timeline and operational future.
The permanent institutional space is built at Ganabhaban, the former official residence of the ousted prime minister. Following intensive structural renovations and legal restructuring completed early this year, the facility has been awaiting its formal launch under the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) administration.
"It will be opened on August 5. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate it," said a senior minister close to the development.
The creation of the museum marks a watershed moment in the country's contemporary political landscape. It servez as both a memorial and a documentation center for the events that fundamentally altered the country's history.
Originally envisioned by the interim caretaker government, the current administration introduced the necessary legislative amendments to transform the project into a permanent national institution under the umbrella of the Bangladesh National Museum.
