Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu on Thursday said the recruitment of 188 employees to the Department of Disaster Management at a cost of just 112 taka per applicant demonstrated the government's commitment to transparent and corruption-free public hiring.

Speaking at an orientation programme for the newly recruited employees at the Disaster Management Building in Dhaka's Mohakhali, Dulu said each recruit spent only 112 taka from submitting an application to joining the service.

"The Department of Disaster Management is an example of how the current government is establishing a corruption-free administration through transparency and accountability," he said.

Dulu said Bangladesh's geographical location makes it one of the world's most disaster-prone countries, placing disaster management personnel at the forefront of emergency response.

He said the government would focus on developing a skilled workforce to strengthen integrated disaster management and improve preparedness for future disasters.

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Engineer Iqbal Hossain urged the new recruits to carry out their duties with honesty, dedication and sincerity.

Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md Saidur Rahman Khan also addressed the programme.
