PM inaugurates FICCI FDI Conference, highlights drive to attract foreign investment

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday attended the FICCI FDI Conference 2026, reaffirming the government's commitment to attracting greater foreign direct investment (FDI) to create jobs and accelerate Bangladesh's economic growth.

The day-long conference, titled "FICCI FDI Conference 2026: Driving Foreign Investment for Jobs and Prosperity in Bangladesh," began at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) in Dhaka.

Before formally inaugurating the event, the prime minister visited the Investors' Expo, where he interacted with representatives of participating companies and organisations.

Organised by the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the conference comes as Bangladesh prepares for graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category and seeks to attract higher levels of foreign investment.

According to the organisers, stronger engagement between investors and policymakers is becoming increasingly important as the country works to improve its investment climate and sustain economic growth in the post-LDC graduation era.

Around 600 delegates from Bangladesh and abroad attended the conference, including senior government officials, policymakers, regulators, diplomats, development partners, executives of multinational companies, foreign and local investors, business leaders and media representatives.
