PM personally inspects DNCC roads to review cleanliness drive

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday personally drove through different roads under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to inspect the city's cleanliness, as part of his government's efforts to improve waste management and transform Dhaka into a cleaner capital.

"The Prime Minister personally drove through different roads in the northern part of the capital to see the cleanliness situation on the ground," said his Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said.

He said the Prime Minister left his Gulshan residence at 4:05pm and drove the vehicle himself.

During the inspection, he passed through Shyamoli, Bijoy Sarani, Rokeya Sarani, Mirpur-10, Kachukhet and Shewrapara, among other roads.

The Prime Minister spent more than two and a half hours touring the roads before returning to his Gulshan residence around Maghrib prayers, Rony said.

He said the Prime Minister has repeatedly expressed his desire to see Dhaka transformed into a clean city, prompting the field visit.

"The Prime Minister has repeatedly said he wants to see Dhaka as a clean city. That is why he is personally inspecting the situation," he added.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by State Minister for Local Government Shahe Alam, DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Milton, BNP Special Secretary Belayet Hossain, Private Secretary Mehedul Islam and Assistant Private Secretary Abdur Rahman Sani.
