Korean Trade Minister meets Yunus, discusses investment and social business

Republic of Korea Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo on Monday met former Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Professor Muhammad Yunus at the Yunus Centre in Dhaka to discuss economic cooperation, social business, and investment opportunities.

During the meeting, Nobel laureate Professor Yunus thanked South Korea for its continued economic cooperation with Bangladesh and encouraged greater Korean investment in the country. He also highlighted the role of social business and shared his vision of the "Three Zeros" movement, which promotes zero net carbon emissions, zero unemployment, and zero wealth concentration.

Minister Yeo praised Professor Yunus for pioneering the Grameen microcredit model and acknowledged its lasting global impact. He also noted his long-standing connection with Bangladesh through multiple visits to Chattogram during his previous role at an international financial organisation.

Professor Yunus further highlighted the Yunus Social Business Centre (YSBC) network, which operates across 116 universities and institutions in 40 countries, along with the growing 3 Zero Clubs movement involving young people worldwide.
