Dozens injured as JCD, Shibir men clash at several Dhaka campuses
Fresh campus violence has erupted as activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir clashed at several educational institutions in the capital on Tuesday, leaving dozens injured.
Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said around 20 people, injured in clashes at Jagannath University (JnU), Dhaka College and Government Madrasah-e-Alia (popularly known as Dhaka Alia Madrasah), were brought to the hospital for treatment.
Among the injured were the principal of Dhaka Alia Madrasah, a journalist, and JCD and Shibir activists.
Several injured people left the hospital after receiving first aid, while some others, including the principal and the journalist, were still undergoing treatment.
Those injured from Jagannath University were identified as Dhruvo, 22, Prova, 23, Towhid, 25, Towhidul Islam, 25, and Md Nasir, 21.
The injured from Alia Madrasah included Maruf, 27, Sanaullah, 25, Obaidur, 27, Rabbi, 27, madrasah unit JCD General Secretary Rubel Hossain Momin, 30, Kalu, 45, Principal Mohammad Obaidul Hoque, 52, Yusuf Molla, 19, Sajid, 28, Asif, 43, Samakal Multimedia reporter Nazmul, 26, Abu Salek, 30, among others.
