Former Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to attend July Museum inauguration

Former chief adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus will attend the inauguration of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum on Wednesday, according to a source.

"Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus received the invitation and will be there," the source told Daily Waadaa.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the museum as the chief guest at 9:00 am on August 5 by unveiling its commemorative plaque.

The building, formerly known as Ganabhaban and used as the official residence of Hasina, was transformed into the museum by the interim government led by Nobel peace prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Professor Muhammad Yunus visited the museum site twice during his tenure as head of the interim government and offered directions regarding its construction.

The July Memorial Museum is intended to preserve materials related to past political repression under Hasina's government and to commemorate the student-led mass uprising of 2024.

Participants in the July movement and family members of those killed during the uprising will speak at the inauguration, sharing their experiences and paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the movement.

The programme will be chaired by Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, MP.

Senior government officials, representatives from various ministries and divisions, diplomats, intellectuals, academics, cultural figures, participants in the July movement, family members of those killed, political leaders, journalists, and distinguished members of various professions are expected to attend the inauguration.
