If we ever lose our path, we will come here to rediscover it: Professor Yunus on July Memorial Museum

Former chief adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on Wednesday said the July Memorial Museum would mark the beginning of a new journey and serve as a place where the nation could regain its direction whenever its thinking faltered.

He made the remarks as a special guest at the inauguration of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum.

“If we ever lose our path, we will come here to rediscover it,” Professor Yunus said.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman earlier inaugurated the museum, established to preserve the history of the 2024 July Mass Uprising and commemorate the sacrifices of its martyrs and participants.

He formally opened the museum by unveiling its plaque and declaring it open to visitors.

Following the inauguration, Tarique Rahman toured the museum's galleries and exhibitions, which feature preserved artefacts, photographs, official documents, video footage and memorabilia related to the July Mass Uprising.

The building, formerly known as Ganabhaban and used as the official residence of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, was converted into the museum by the interim government led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Professor Yunus visited the museum site twice during his tenure as head of the interim government and provided guidance on its development.
