Pakistan High Commissioner safe, stable after fire at residence

A fire broke out at the official residence of the Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka at around 3:00 a.m. last night, prompting an emergency response from local fire services, an official from the Pakistan High Commission said.

Firefighters were called to the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

High Commissioner Imran Haider and his spouse Naima Haider were taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure following the incident. Both are reported to be in stable condition.

Imran Haider assumed office as the Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh in August 2025.
