Vested quarter trying to create instability in country: Fakhrul

Updated on

BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that a vested quarter is trying to create instability in the country, urging everyone to remain alert and help protect political stability.

“Whenever the country starts moving forward, a quarter tries to push it backwards through national and international conspiracies,” he said while addressing a doctors’ rally organised by the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on the LD Hall premises of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Fakhrul said BNP had taken responsibility for rebuilding the country after “its destruction under the Awami League government”.

“While BNP is working to take the country forward, a quarter or a party is trying to create instability and take the country back into an unstable situation. I believe it would be unfair for them to engage in such activities with the aim of pushing the country back into another period of instability,” the BNP leader said.

He urged doctors to make people aware of the importance of political stability and said Bangladesh needs to move forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

“We want to build a new Bangladesh based on development, human dignity and equality,” Fakhrul said.

He urged the doctors to take a pledge to build a better Bangladesh as per the desire of the country’s people under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.

“Our slogan will be: Bangladesh first,” the BNP leader said.

He urged doctors to uphold their professional responsibilities with sincerity and dedication to ensure quality healthcare for people.

The rally was organised to mark the 37th founding anniversary of DAB, the BNP’s doctors’ organisation.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman inaugurated the doctors’ rally by releasing pigeons and balloons.

The Prime Minister and his wife planted two saplings on the LD Hall premises before the rally. The prime minister then hoisted the national flag as the national anthem was played.

Two papers titled “Bangladesh’s health sector: From crisis to solution” and “The rise of the national health system” were presented at the rally by Dr Mostafa Adib Suman and Saif Mohammad respectively.

DAB President Prof Harun Al Rashid presided over the programme.

Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof AZM Zahid Hossain, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain, State Minister MA Muhit, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Health SM Ziauddin Haider and DAB Secretary General Zahirul Islam Shakil also addressed the rally.
