At least 9 Bangladeshis dead in S Arabia sofa factory fire

At least nine Bangladeshis are feared dead in a fire which erupted at a factory in Saudi Arabia, with concerns the death toll may rise further.

The blaze broke out at a sofa factory in Riyadh

Md Moniruzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Atrai upazila in Naogaon -- where most of the workers came from --, confirmed the death toll.

“They all used to work at a sofa factory in Riyadh,” he told Daily Waadaa.

Locals told media that more than 17 Bangladeshis, from Naogaon and neighbouring Natore district, worked at the factory, but this could not be confirmed immediately.
