AL embezzled 7,000cr taka of teachers’ retirement benefits: Milon

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Tuesday said the Awami League government had embezzled 7,000 crore taka from teachers’ retirement benefits. 

He made the remarks while addressing a session titled “Rebuilding a Fragile Economy and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals” as the chief guest at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.

Milon said the previous government had spent thousands of crore taka in the name of observing August 15. 

Mentioning that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been working round the clock for the needs of the country and its people, he said the prime minister has also been giving equal importance to the development of all sectors, including education, health and housing.

Addressing the country’s political parties, the minister said, “Instead of only criticising, let us all work together.”

He also highlighted various development activities of the government, saying family cards are being distributed among people across the country.

Milon said, “Following the instructions of the Prime Minister, I am working day and night to improve the country’s education system.”

State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, along with officials from various ministries and educational institutions, also spoke at the event.
