Malls to shut at 8pm, illuminated billboards off by 7pm: Power Division

As part of efforts to save and manage electricity, the government has decided that shopping malls, markets and shops will remain open from 11:00am to 8:00pm, effective Wednesday.

All illuminated billboards must be switched off by 7:00pm, while all forms of decorative lighting must remain completely switched off, the Power Division said in a notice.

The notice was also published by the verified Facebook page of the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources.

The same time limit will also apply to all fairs, trade fairs and cultural events.

However, fresh markets or food shops, hospitals and pharmacies will remain outside the scope of the decision.
