Ziaul Ahsan shown arrested in Salahuddin enforced disappearance case

The International Crimes Tribunal has formally shown Major General (retd.) Ziaul Ahsan arrested and ordered to be sent to jail in a crimes against humanity case filed over the enforced disappearance of current Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed during the Awami League government’s rule. 

The order was issued on Thursday by a three-member bench of International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Md. Gholam Mortuza Mozumder.

Earlier, Ziaul Ahsan was brought before the tribunal from jail under tight security in connection with the case.

Prosecutor Gazi M. H. Tamim said the tribunal set October 27 as the deadline for submitting the full investigation report in the case.

Alongside Tamim, prosecutors Shyikh Mahdi, and Tasmirul Islam represented the state during the hearing.

Ziaul Ahsan was arrested in the airport area after attempting to leave the country following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. 

The former Director General of the National Telecommunications Monitoring Centre (NTMC) and former senior RAB official is currently in jail after being accused in several cases involving crimes against humanity.
