Better communication system will boost business, trade: Dulu

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, has said improving the communication system is essential for expanding business and trade and accelerating economic development.

"There is no alternative to improving the communication system for the development of commerce, business and trade," he said.

The minister made the remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed 130.85-metre pre-stressed concrete (PC) girder Ratnai Bridge on the Lalmonirhat-Phulbari road in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on Saturday, according to a PID press release.

He said the bridge would ease the long-standing sufferings of local people, while reducing travel time and transportation costs and facilitating the movement of goods and boosting trade in the region.

Dulu urged people to help maintain the communication network and make proper use of the bridge.

"After a long wait, a bridge has been built here. It is not just a bridge; it is an important link for better communication," he said.

Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rashedul Haque Pradhan, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mononita Das and Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Debashish Saha attended the inauguration as special guests.

Leaders of different political parties, representatives of various professions and journalists were also present.

Later, the minister inspected the river adjacent to Kulaghat Bazar in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.
