Power minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku admitted to CCU

Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka after falling ill on Tuesday night.

The minister was taken to the hospital’s emergency department at around 10:30pm before being shifted to the CCU, his personal assistant Abdullah Kayes told Prothom Alo newspaper.

Kayes said Tuku had been suffering from fever, cold and cough for the past four to five days and was hospitalised on doctors’ advice for medical tests and treatment.

The minister is currently under close observation by specialist doctors.

Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital’s public relations department confirmed his admission but did not provide further details about his condition.

Tuku’s family has sought prayers for his speedy recovery.
