ACC launches inquiry against Asif Mahmud, 3 others over corruption allegations
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry into allegations of corruption against Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, spokesperson for the National Citizen Party (NCP) and a former adviser to the interim government.
The commission has also decided to investigate former Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Joint Secretary Dr Sheikh Mohammad Zobaid Hossain and Deputy Secretary of the Youth-1 branch Md Masum Ahmed.
A senior ACC official confirmed the development to Daily Waadaa on Wednesday, saying the commission has formed a four-member special team to investigate the allegations.
ACC Deputy Director Md Zahid Kalam is leading the team, which will examine various aspects of the allegations.
The inquiry follows a complaint filed with the ACC alleging widespread irregularities and corruption in various activities of the Youth and Sports Ministry during the tenure of the interim government.
After reviewing the complaint, the commission decided to investigate the allegations and formed the four-member team for the inquiry.
