President visits ailing power minister Tuku at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital
President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.
Tuku, a BNP Standing Committee member, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday night after falling ill.
During the visit, Fakhrul inquired about Tuku’s health and spoke with the treating physicians about his current condition and treatment, according to the BNP Media Cell.
Tuku was initially taken to the hospital’s emergency department at around 10:30pm on Tuesday before being shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), according to his personal assistant Abdullah Kayes.
Kayes had earlier said to the Prothom Alo newspaper, Tuku had been suffering from fever, cold and cough for the past four to five days. He was admitted on doctors’ advice for medical tests and treatment and is currently under observation by specialist doctors.
The hospital’s public relations department had confirmed his admission but did not provide further details about his condition.
Tuku’s family has sought prayers for his speedy recovery.
