Law Minister urges Hindu community to unite against injustice, evil forces

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Friday urged members of the Hindu community to remain united against any evil or destructive forces and injustice.

He said the government is committed to ensuring an environment where every citizen can celebrate religious festivals freely, safely and with dignity.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a programme, marking Janmashtami on the Ramgopal Temple premises in Shailkupa upazila headquarters.

The minister called upon the Hindu community to stand beside the government against any form of evil or destructive forces.

Referring to the teachings of Lord Krishna, he said Krishna appeared nearly 5,000 years ago to defeat evils and oppression and establish peace and justice in society.

“Fighting against injustice and evil forces is the core principle of his teachings. We believe that when we fight to eliminate injustice and evils from society, you will stand beside the government as you have always done,” he said.

Asaduzzaman warned that no attempt to create disorder or obstruct religious programmes will be tolerated.

“Religion is for individuals, but security is for everyone. We must move forward with this eternal principle,” he said, adding that law enforcement agencies will take strict legal action against anyone attempting to create disorder, intimidation or obstruction during religious programmes.

“There is no distinction between minorities and majorities. Everyone in the country must be able to practise their religions peacefully and without hindrance,” the minister said.

After the discussion, Asaduzzaman joined a colourful Janmashtami procession that began at the Ramgopal Temple and paraded through the main streets of Shailkupa town.

Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner Md Noman Hossain, Zila Parishad Administrator Md Abdul Majid, leaders of the Puja Udjapan Parishad and Hindu devotees from different walks of life attended the programme.
