Salahuddin, Moyeen Khan given charge of parliamentary affairs for key state offices

The government has expanded the responsibilities of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Local Government Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, assigning them parliamentary affairs for several key ministries and state offices.

The Cabinet Division announced the new allocation in a notification issued on Thursday, saying it would remain in effect until further orders.

Under the arrangement, Salahuddin will handle parliamentary business for the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Division while parliament is in session.

In his absence, Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain and Industries, Textiles and Jute, and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir will serve as alternates.

Moyeen Khan, the local government, rural development and cooperatives minister, has been assigned parliamentary affairs for the President’s Office, Parliament Secretariat and Election Commission Secretariat.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman will take over those responsibilities in Moyeen Khan’s absence during parliamentary sessions.

The Cabinet Division said other provisions contained in its earlier notifications issued on March 17, April 6, July 16 and Aug. 23 would remain unchanged.
