‘Take steps to prevent fugitives from creating instability’: Mahdi Amin tells Indian envoy

Prime Minister’s Adviser and PMO spokesperson Mahdi Amin on Thursday urged Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi to take steps to ensure that fugitive allies of fascism and convicts who have fled to India cannot attempt to create any form of instability in Bangladesh. 

Mahdi made the call during a courtesy meeting with Dinesh at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon.

According to the party’s Facebook page, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and increase people-to-people contacts between Bangladesh and India.

They stressed the importance of further consolidating democratic environments and values in both countries.

The two sides also agreed to work towards taking bilateral relations to a sustainable and dignified level based on mutual respect, equality, fairness and justice.

They held discussions on addressing existing challenges through dialogue and cooperation.

The meeting also covered the multifaceted aspects of Bangladesh-India bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on cooperation in education, health, sports, culture and tourism.

The two sides also discussed ways to expand business, trade and investment between the two countries.

Highlighting the significant potential for cooperation in information technology and innovation, they agreed that there was scope to expand collaboration in various fields, including science and technology.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawan Badhe was also present at the meeting.
