Zubaida speaks at UNGA Women Leaders event as Khalilur says ‘when women lead, the world moves forward’

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, on Wednesday addressed the UNGA Platform of Women Leaders on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

UN General Assembly (UNGA) President and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, who also addressed the event, said women’s leadership must move from the margins to the centre of decision-making.

“When women lead, the world moves forward,” he said.

The UNGA Platform of Women Leaders is a special initiative of the Office of the President of the General Assembly (PGA) and UN Women that brings together current women heads of state and government to discuss priority issues on the international agenda and identify solutions to complex and interconnected challenges.
