PM Tarique meets UN rights chief Volker Türk in New York

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk in New York on Friday, with the two discussing a range of issues of mutual interest.

Türk paid a courtesy call on Tarique at the prime minister’s [temporary] residence in New York, according to an official statement given at the verified Facebook page of Prime Minister’s office.

The meeting was held in the bilateral meeting room of the residence as Tarique continued his engagements in New York during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The statement did not provide details of the specific issues discussed during the meeting.

Tarique is in New York to attend the UN General Assembly, where he delivered his maiden address as prime minister on Thursday.
