Yunus joins Yale gathering on keeping humans in control of AI

Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus attended the Founding Assembly of the Codex Humanitatis at the Yale Club of New York City on September 24, where global figures from technology, business, media, arts and civil society discussed the implications of artificial intelligence for humanity.

According to a post on Yunus’ official Facebook page, he spoke about Grameen’s experience with technology and the potential of AI to create opportunities and improve people’s lives.

Yunus also warned of the destructive potential of AI when human responsibility and judgment are removed from decision-making. He stressed the need to establish clear boundaries around areas that should remain under human control.

The gathering was attended by several prominent figures, including Edelman CEO Richard Edelman, Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith, Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel, Nobel Peace laureates Tawakkol Karman and Jody Williams, ICAN Executive Director and Nobel Peace laureate Melissa Parke, NVIDIA Vice President Jonathan Cohen, IBM Chief Communications Officer Sarah Meron, Tesla board member Kimbal Musk and Kerry Kennedy, president of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.
