Three more remanded over New Gini Properties attack

A court here on Thursday placed three more people on a three-day remand each in a case filed over the attack, vandalism and looting at the New Gini Properties housing project in the capital’s ECB Chattar area.

The remanded accused are Mijanur Rahman, Shah Alam and Shahriar Mahmud.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Monirul Islam passed the order after police produced them before the court and sought a five-day remand for each.

Earlier on September 30, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Siddique Azad placed three other accused on a three-day remand each in the case.

According to the case documents, around 50 men attacked the New Guinea Properties Housing Project in South Manikdi, near ECB Chattar, on the night of September 26. They allegedly vandalised and looted property at the project.

YouTuber Salman Muqtadir’s ‘Brownfish’ studio, located inside the project, was also attacked.

Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, a director of New Gini Properties, filed the case with Cantonment Police Station following the incident.
