Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom has invited Bangladeshi organisations to compete for grants under its 2026 International Grant Competition on Environmental and Social Innovation.

The competition is open to projects addressing environmental challenges and community needs, with applications accepted until November 1, according to a statement from Rosatom.

Organisations from Bangladesh, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan are eligible for the main competition.

Grants will be awarded across 10 areas, including environmental protection, youth and environmental education, animal welfare, support for disadvantaged communities, volunteer networks, urban communities, sports and healthy lifestyles, digital solutions for social initiatives, public-space development, and cultural and heritage projects.

Both existing projects and new initiatives can apply.

Rosatom said the programme is intended to support volunteerism and environmental awareness, youth-led initiatives and projects aimed at improving conditions for local communities and vulnerable groups.

A separate category, “Arctic: Innovation and Sustainable Development,” has also been introduced this year and is open to applicants worldwide.

The category will support educational, scientific and youth-led projects focusing on the Arctic’s role in sustainable economic development, logistics, science and international cooperation.

NGOs, universities, educational institutions, youth organisations, museums and environmental education groups are among those eligible to participate.

Applications will be assessed based on relevance, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, methodology and potential long-term impact, with selected proposals undergoing an online expert review.

Rosatom said the results will be announced in January 2027.

Winning projects will receive grant funding as well as expert advisory support during implementation.
