‘Help me get justice for my boy’: Woman seeks driver after car runs over pet dog in Gulshan
The owner of a four-year-old Siberian Husky has appealed to the public for help identifying the driver of a Toyota Fortuner that ran over her dog in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
Ipsha Adiba, the owner of the dog, Kai, said the incident took place on Road 63 on September 22 while the dog was sitting there.
“If anyone recognises this Toyota Fortuner car around Gulshan area or knows its owner, please reach out to me. I desperately want to find the person responsible,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The post had been shared more than 100 times, drawing comments from people expressing condolences and grief over Kai’s death.
One Facebook user commented, “I can't stop crying seeing this video,” while another wrote, “I have cried so much and this again has made me cry. We must find this person and get justice. This is beyond heartbreaking.”
Adiba attached CCTV footage to the post showing a car running over the dog as it made a U-turn near an intersection.
She alleged that the driver deliberately ran over Kai before speeding away without stopping. Nearby building security guards reportedly tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not get out.
She said she had filed a complaint with Gulshan Police Station, but neither she nor the police had been able to identify the vehicle’s registration number from the footage.
“Kai was not a dog to me, he was my baby. He was more than family,” Adiba wrote, expressing her grief over the loss.
She also questioned how someone could run over a helpless animal and leave without taking responsibility, urging the public to help identify the driver.
“Today, it was Kai. Tomorrow, it could be someone’s child,” she wrote.
