Bangladesh Bank website goes down 'over urgent security issue'
Bangladesh Bank’s website has gone offline due to an urgent security issue, the central bank’s spokesperson said on Thursday.
“BB website is down due to an urgent security issue,” Arif Khan, spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, said in a message shared with journalists.
The development comes amid growing global concerns over cybersecurity threats, with a BBC News report highlighting how critical security weaknesses have led to websites being taken down worldwide.
However, it was not immediately clear what security issue had affected the central bank’s website, whether it involved a cyberattack, or when the website would be restored.
International governments and agencies urged websites to address two critical cyber-security flaws in a programming language which powers much of the internet.
The vulnerabilities were found within the PHP programming language, with a fix issued on Wednesday afternoon.
