Popular actress Pori Moni has secured bail after surrendering before a court in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud over allegations of assault, vandalism and intimidation.

The Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court granted her bail on Thursday (November 5).

A day earlier the court had fixed November 4 as the date for recording witness testimony in the case. However, as Pori Moni failed to appear, Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman cancelled her bail and ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant against her that day (Wednesday).

Pori Moni's lawyer had sought an adjournment, telling the court that she could not appear in person due to an allergy-related illness. Meanwhile, the complainant's side strongly urged the court to cancel the bail of the accused. Following hearings from both sides, the court ordered an arrest warrant against Pori Moni.

Just one day after the warrant was issued, Pori Moni appeared in court in person on Thursday morning, accompanied by her personal security guards. The court subsequently granted her bail.

At around 11am, she was seen waiting inside a white car on the premises of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

News of her presence drew crowds of curious onlookers to the court premises.

On January 26 last year (2025), the court ordered the trial to begin after framing charges against three accused, including Pori Moni, in the case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud. An arrest warrant had also been issued against her on that occasion, following which she surrendered before the court and secured bail.

After completing its investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a report to the court in 2024, stating that it had found evidence supporting the allegations against Pori Moni and her costume designer, Zunaed Bogdadi Jimmy, also known as Jim. However, the report said the allegations against another accused, Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni, could not be substantiated.

According to the case statement, an altercation broke out between the complainant and Pori Moni and her associates when they visited Savar's Boat Club on the night of June 9, 2021.

Nasir Uddin alleged that he was verbally abused and assaulted and that a serving glass and a mobile phone were thrown at him. He sustained injuries to his head and chest, according to the complaint. The case also includes allegations of vandalism at the club and death threats.
