BNP holds ‘Sovereignty Rally’ in Panchagarh to mark November 7
The Panchagarh district unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a "Sovereignty Rally" and discussion meeting on Saturday (November 7) to commemorate National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
State Minister for Water Resources and Panchagarh-2 lawmaker Farhad Hossain Azad attended the programme as chief guest.
Panchagarh district BNP convener Zahirul Islam Kachchu chaired the event.
Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations joined the rally and discussion, marking the anniversary of the November 7, 1975, soldiers' uprising that brought Ziaur Rahman back to the military leadership.
Organisers said the programme was intended to uphold the spirit of November 7 and promote national unity, democracy and sovereignty.
The BNP observes November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day, commemorating the uprising that freed Zia from house arrest during a period of military coups and political turmoil.
The day remains a significant part of the party's political history and its account of the emergence of Bangladeshi nationalism under Zia's leadership.
