Banks to remain open beyond regular hours for Hajj registration payments

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has directed the branches of banks concerned with Hajj activities to remain open beyond regular banking transaction hours on September 25 and 26 to facilitate the deposit of money for Hajj registration for 2027.

According to a circular letter issued by the central bank today, the concerned bank branches will remain open on Friday (September 25) and Saturday (September 26), despite the days being outside normal banking hours, to receive Hajj registration money from applicants.

The branches have been instructed to take necessary measures to receive the registration money safely as long as Hajj registration applicants remain present for depositing the money.

The directive was issued in line with a memorandum of the Ministry of Religious Affairs dated September 20, 2026, concerning arrangements for depositing Hajj registration money for the Hajj season of 2027.

The Bangladesh Bank letter, issued by its Supervision Data Management and Analytics Department, was addressed to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks operating in Bangladesh.

The central bank said the directive was issued in the public interest under Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
