Etihad launches Dhaka flights with sold-out inaugural service

Etihad Airways has launched direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka, with its inaugural service operating at full capacity, underscoring strong passenger demand and growing trade links between the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh, according to Gulf News.

Flight EY382 departed Abu Dhabi on June 26 and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport the following morning, marking the airline's return to the Bangladesh market as part of its expanding South Asia network.

The route will operate four times a week using a Boeing 777 aircraft configured with 28 Business Class lie-flat seats and 374 Economy Class seats, alongside substantial belly-hold cargo capacity.

Etihad Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves said the sold-out inaugural flight reflected the close ties between the UAE and Bangladesh and highlighted sustained demand for both passenger and cargo services.

He said the route would serve the large Bangladeshi expatriate community in the UAE while improving connectivity for travellers across the Gulf, Europe, North America and the United Kingdom through Abu Dhabi.

Beyond passenger travel, the new service is expected to strengthen Bangladesh's export sector, particularly the ready-made garments and textile industries, by providing additional cargo capacity and faster access to international markets.

The airline said the route would enhance Bangladesh's trade links with the Middle East, Europe and North America through Abu Dhabi's global hub.

According to Gulf News, the Abu Dhabi-Dhaka service will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, while return flights from Dhaka will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The launch adds Dhaka to Etihad's growing South Asian network as the Abu Dhabi-based carrier continues expanding its international footprint and strengthening air connectivity between the Gulf and Bangladesh.
