Gold price cut by 4,374 taka per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has cut the price of gold ornaments in the domestic market for the second time in two days, reducing the price of 22-carat gold by 4,374 taka per bhori.

Under the new pricing, effective from 10am on Monday, the price of 22-carat gold ornaments, including VAT, now stands at 2,36,254 taka per bhori.

Bajus said the price reduction came following a fall in the price of tejabi (pure) gold in the local market.

The price of 21-carat gold ornaments has also been reduced by 4,141 taka to 2,25,640 taka per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price of 18-carat gold ornaments has fallen by 3,616 taka to 1,93,739 taka per bhori, while traditional gold ornaments now cost 1,58,280 taka per bhori, down 2,916 taka.

This is the second price cut announced by Bajus in two days.

On August 29, the association reduced the price of 22-carat gold by 7,115 taka per bhori. With Monday's reduction, the price of the highest-quality gold has fallen by a total of 11,489 taka per bhori in two rounds.

Silver prices also fall

Bajus has also reduced the prices of silver ornaments.

The price of 22-carat silver ornaments, including VAT, has been cut by 175 taka to 5,132 taka per bhori.

The price of 21-carat silver ornaments has fallen by 117 taka to 4,957 taka per bhori, while 18-carat silver now costs 4,257 taka per bhori, down 117 taka.

The price of traditional silver ornaments has also been reduced by 116 taka to 3,208 taka per bhori.

All prices announced by Bajus include VAT. One bhori of gold is equivalent to 11.664 grams.
